Over the last 15 years, and particularly during the last 5, digital technology has had a radical impact on our culture. Shaped by newfound convenience, immediacy and social connectivity, our expectations of the digital sphere have started to spill over to the physical sphere; in turn progressively changing our expectations and understanding of the city and the urban fabric.
While perhaps not being the most glamorous or even newest of new technologies, GPS navigation has surprisingly led the charge in this disruption of habits, bringing out the expectation of never getting lost. We look here at how digital GPS navigation might impact the evolution of our future cities.
